There is a new book out that is a must read for every Rwandan, “Inside the Hotel Rwanda”, The surprising true story …And Why it Matters.
After lying to the world for twenty years about his role during the Genocide against Tutsi, Paul Rusesabagina has been exposed for the fraud he is.
In this bombshell of a book, Edouard KAYIHURA, Survivor of the Real Hotel Rwanda and his co-author, Kerry Zukus tell us what really transpired during those hallowing days at the Mille Collines in April 1994.
Kayihura does not express his opinion or interprete events for his readers. He simply tells us what he saw and endured, and through others who were in the hotel tells his readers why Rusesabagina could not have done what he claims to have done: save 1,268 people.
In the words of Lt.-Gen. Romeo Dallaire, Force Commander for UNAMIR (1993-1994), “For those who have learned of the story only through the famous movie HOTEL RWANDA, the story of Eduoard Kayihura is a privileged opportunity to put reality to the Hollywood dramatization.”
Dramatization, indeed.
This book, in detail and with convincing concrete evidence exposes Rusesabagina’s lies and fabrications that have become his cashh cow. And as the book tells us, Rusesabagina is “now the smiling face of the very Hutu power groups who drove the genocide.”
Former Rwandan Prime Minister, and himself a genocide survivor and resident at Hotel des Mille Collines, Bernard Makuza commenting on the book states: “It stands apart from the tales of those who have abused, manipulated, and diverted public attention and opinion from what has been endured.”
To his credit, Kayihura un-dresses Rusesabagina “as a profiteering and politically ambitious Hutu Power sympathiser who extorted money from those who sought refuge, threatening to send those who did not pay to the genocidaires, despite pleas from the hotel’s corporate ownership to stop.”
Rusesabagina, as Kayihura tells us is “a falsely created hero using his fame to be a political force, spouting the same ethnic apartheid that caused the genocide two decades ago.”
Professor Egide Karuranga, another survivor and resident at the hotel tells us that the movie HOTEL RWANDA did raise awareness of genocide against Tutsi, but “its distortion of facts created one of the most virulent platforms championing trivialization of that tragedy through theories of double genocide and related tactics.”
Those who have given Rusesabagina a platform to distort history, trivialize the Genocide against Tutsi and profiteer from Rwanda’s tragedy ought to read “Inside The Hotel Rwanda.”
